Miri: The Sarawak Children Cancer Society’s (SCCS) Colour Rush 4.0 Run had received support from Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB).

SOPB donated RM8,000, to the run, while 120 of its staff would run for cancer awareness on Feb 28. SOPB Chief Operating Officer Eric Kiu explained that the money was a combination of contribution from the management and the personal donations of SOPB Staff.

“The noble intention of SCCS’s 5km-run held in commemoration of International Childhood Cancer Day has successfully created awareness of childhood cancer,” he said when handing over the donation to SCCS head of northern liaison office Jocelyn Hee yesterday.

“The positive response received from SOPB staff to take part in Colour Rush 3.0 last year had reached SOPB management’s attention, who decided to make this year’s Colour Rush 4.0 as one of its yearly corporate sponsorship events,”He pointed out that as a non-governmental organisation , SCCS was dependent on public contributions.

“It is SOP Group’s hope that its contribution could help SCCS’ chance for advancement of research and public education in the prevention, control, diagnosis, and treatment of childhood cancer,” he said.

The annual Colour Rush Run is also held in Kuching and Sibu.

This year’s theme is ‘Courage-Help Kids Outrun Cancer’
