Volunteers from Miri Hospital’s Blood Transfusion Unit attend to the blood donors during SOPB’s donation drive at Boulevard Shopping Mall in Miri

Miri: Fifty-six out of 76 people who come to the donation drive run by Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) at Boulevard Shopping Mall here recently, are eligible to donate their blood.

According to SOPB public relations officer Enki Pati, the programme was mainly to help the blood bank of Miri Hospital to overcome the shortage of supply during critical periods.

“Especially with the year-end approaching, it is crucial to maintain the blood stock. Our event (at Boulevard mall) was a small effort to help the Miri blood bank to replenish its stock – our way of contributing back to the community,” he said in the press statement yesterday.

The blood donation drive was run in collaboration with Miri Hospital’s Blood Transfusion Unit and Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Chapter.
