SOP continues to be an active contributor to local community development.
Miri – On January 13th, 2023, the eye glasses handover ceremony for Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP)’s Vision Care Project was held at Rumah Justine Manai, Sg. Entulang, Miri, for identified longhouse folks who came during the eye and health screening program held during World Sight Day last year.
Among those in attendance for the handover ceremony were SOP Public Relations Manager Ms. Agnes Nyelang, Assistant Manager Mr. Kheong Sia Kiong of Lambir 2 Estate, Tr. Justine Manai and longhouse residents.
Chieftain TR Justine Manai thanked the volunteers from SOP for the effort in realizing the program and the Group’s endeavor to grow together with local communities. The generosity of SOP for absorbing all costs for the eye screening program as well as sponsoring eye glasses for his residents are very much appreaciated.
The CSR initiative been established in 2013 with the aim to create the awareness about healthy and quality living. Due to logistical and financial challenges, rural area community often do not have equitable access to eye care facilities. Therefore, SOP is committed to lower the risk of preventable blindness, particularly among children and elderly folks of rural community. SOP are planning to continue to conduct the project at identified longhouse within the vicinity of SOP Group.
SOP continues to be an active contributor to local community development through organising various economic support and social contribution programmes to contribute to the needs and well-being of the local communities in the areas of education, healthcare, disaster relief and others.
