Miri – A total of 180 longhouse residents from 23 longhouses in Batu Lintang, Sri Aman received new spectacles during the handover ceremony that was held on 30th November 2022. The complementary prescription spectacles were sponsored by Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) through its CSR initiative, the SOP Vision Care Project.
The SOP Vision Care Project in Batu Lintang has been held for 2 days, on 8th and 9th September at SK Paku and SK Batu Lintang respectively. About 203 Batu Lintang NCR Project participants attended the said project which provides free health and eye screening programs. It was held with the partnership of a team of medical officers from Klinik Kesihatan Batu Lintang.
SOP was represented by its Estate Manager Mr. Lim Hung Hui together with a team from Batu Lintang Estate who visited all 23 longhouses and handed over the spectacles to identified recipients.
According to Estate Manager Mr. Lim Hung Hui, SOP is always committed to spread awareness about health and quality living of the people who lives in the vicinity of SOP‘s operation. One of them is to lower the risk of preventable blindness amongst the local communities through this vision care project.
“This small gesture symbolizes SOP group’s ongoing commitment in giving back to the community within its operation areas, especially the NCR project participants. It is in line with its CSR tagline which is “We Grow Together with Local Communities,” he added.
The Vision Care Project is one of SOP’s CSR projects besides its annual Young Achiever Awards (YAA), Student Adoption Programme (SAP), Blood Donation Drives, and SOPB–Get Equip’d Rehabilitation Programme which are the catalyst for SOP to grow together with local communities.
