SOP Plantation Controller, Mr. Jimbau Tumbai received a token of appreciation from Mdm Lem Belawing of Long Nanyan

Miri – Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) conducted Pre-Christmas Celebration together with smallholders in Sg. Asap, Belaga on 3rd December 2022, Saturday. The celebration was hosted by Long Nanyan which drew an overwhelming support from approximately 300 participants. Apart from smallholders, nearest longhouses such as from Long Bangan, Uma Sambop Batu Pilau, Long Semutut and including SOP staff from Sepakau 1 and 2 estate were invited.

The one day event was filled with sport fun activities, karaoke, volleyball friendly matches between SOP and villagers along with dinner, Christmas mass, choir and Christmas gifts given to children in the evening.

SOP Plantation Controller, Mr. Jimbau Tumbai was present to grace the event on behalf of the company. “We are grateful for the support of the smallholders who sell their Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to our Sepakau Palm Oil Mill. We also thank the surrounding local community especially who have worked closely with us to make this celebration possible and I hope that we could strengthen the existing mutual relationship. I believe we all had a good time, and wishing everyone a joyful Merry Christmas.” said PC Jimbau Tumbai.

On the other hand, the chieftain of Long Nanyan, Mr. Osman Jau expressed his gratitude and thanked SOP for its generosity and contribution by fully sponsoring the event. SOP provides monetary prizes, foods and beverages, token of appreciation, hampers for lucky draws and Christmas gifts for the children. “It is a pleasure for my longhouse, Long Nanyan to host this Pre-Christmas Celebration,” he added.

SOP Pre Christmas-Celebration is a new programme that aims to strengthen the existing mutual relationship with the smallholders and local community. SOP committed to be an active contributor to local community development through organising various economic support and social contribution programmes to contribute to the needs and well-being of the local communities in the areas of employment, education, healthcare and others.
