MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) handed out food aid to 50 Penan families residing at its estate in Murum.

According to the company’s statement yesterday, the company reached out to these families because it is aware that they are finding it very difficult to get their food supply due to movement control order (MCO).

SOP Seping 1 Estate Manager, Crennell Andrew Balai handed over the items which included rice, noodles and biscuits (correction:canned food) to Penghulu Luhat Anyup from Long Paran at the Seping 1 Estate.

“This gesture showed SOP’s ongoing commitment in giving back to the community within its operation area, and the same time it is in line with its CSR tagline which is ‘We grow together with local communities’,” said Crennell.

Penghulu Luhat Anyup thanked SOP for its food assistance.

The Penan community are thankful to SOP for its generosity and contribution to lighten the rural community’s hardship as we are not able to travel out to the city to buy daily food supply,” he said.
