Blood donation in progress during the SOPB’s drive at Boulevard Shopping Mall in Pujut

MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) held a blood donation drive at Boulevard Shopping Mall in Pujut last weekend and collected 69 pints from 93 registered donors.

The activity was part of the group’s initiatives to give back to the community under its corporate social responsibility tagline, ‘We Grow Together with Local Communities’.

According to SOPB Assistant Head of Support & Services Joseph Ling, the blood donation campaign helped increase awareness of supply shortage at blood banks across Sarawak.

“The drive was part of SPOB’s constant commitment to give back to society, while helping blood banks maintain sufficient stock especially during festive seasons and school holidays, when the demands is often higher.

“We also hope this campaign would encourage young Mirians to help those in need by donating blood and adopt a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

The drive was run in collaboration with Merris, supported by Miri Hospital Blood Bank and Malaysian Red Crescent Miri District.

Successful donors received with goodies bag, which had Merris pure vegetable cooking oil produced locally by SOPB using 100 per cent Sarawak- grown oil palms.
