BINTULU: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) donated 1,085 bottles of 2kg MERRIS cooking oil to healthcare workers at Bintulu Hospital yesterday.

According to SOPB chief operating officer Eric Kiu Kwong Seng, the donations were in appreciation of their hard work and sacrifices during this difficult time.

“SOPB also donated RM24,920 worth of MERRIS cooking oil to Miri General Hospital on Aug 6, last week.

“Through these donations, we would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all frontliners.

“We are humbled by your immense sacrifices, dedication and commitment to contain this Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Kiu accompanied by SOPB Controller – Operations Kiu Kwong Chiang handed over the bottles of MERRIS cooking oil to Bintulu Hospital director Dr Suzalinna Sulaiman, witnessed by Bintulu Hospital deputy director (Administration) Freziamella Lapok.

MERRIS cooking oil is produced locally in SOPB’s refinery here with freshly harvested Sarawak grown palm oil.

MERRIS Pure Vegetable Oil has high content of natural Vitamin E, cholesterol free, trans fat free and endures relatively high levels of heat.

MERRIS cooking oil is currently sold in 2 and 5kg bottles and is available for purchase in all major whole-seller and supermarkets.

In addition, SOPB has carried out several welfare aid projects through its special relief fund since the implementation of MCO last year by distributing essential food items to affected families who live within the vicinity of its operation, especially to the Penan communities in Murum.
