MIRI: In line with its tagline ‘We grow together with local communities,’ Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) is committed to contribute to the development of local communities through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

SOPB yesterday donated 30 cartons of its Merris cooking oil to SMK Chung Hua Miri for the school’s annual food sale.

The food sale will be held tomorrow from 7am to 1.00pm at the school basketball court and it is open to the public. It is to raise funds for the school’s co-curricular activities and also to maintain and improve its facilities. SOPB chief operating officer Eric Kiu Kiu Kwong Seng handed over the items to the president and teacher-in-charge of Robotic Club of SMK Chung Hua Yong Hong Then witnessed by senior teachers of the school.

The Merris cooking oil is produced locally in SOPB’s refinery with freshly harvested 100 percent Sarawak grown palm oil. The ISO 22000 certified cooking oil is cholesterol free and has high vitamin E and available in all major whole-seller and hypermarkets throughout East Malaysia.

Meanwhile, SOPB will be holding a blood donation drive on October 14 from 10am to 3pm at Level 4 of Boulevard Shopping Mall, Miri where attractive goodie bags will be given to successful donors.
